A leader in one of our churches is doing a short-term mission in Vietnam now. Please pray for fruitfulness as well as for God’s guidance regarding our mission’s possible future ministry in Vietnam. The country is only about 2% evangelical, and it has 68 unreached tribes/cultures. That means millions of people who have never met a Christian or seen a Bible.
Vietnam is communist, and it is on the USA’s State Department Special Watch List for having engaged in or tolerated severe violations of religious freedom.
I will give a somewhat more complete report here once our friend is out of that country. But for full details, you’ll need to ask me privately at jgapinoy@gmail.com

I have been praying that we’ll launch another full-time missionary somewhere this year. Vietnam would be a good place to send workers.
Thank you for praying! Luke 10:2.

Six baptisms in Davao City!
One of them was Juliet baptizing her husband Isidro… and I had just prayed for his repentance the day before from here in Luna!
May the Lord use these six to do exploits for his glory!

Our church in Luna only has one drummer—me—so why not teach others how to play?
And why not open it up for unsaved people to also learn, so that hopefully they will see what God is doing through our worship and in our lives?

We have evangelistic Bible studies after the sessions.

I am frequently honored to teach three times on a Sunday. First in church, then at a home Bible study, and then online with former church members who now live in Sweden (whom I have been meeting online with for several years).

The fuel crisis hit the Philippines especially hard. Diesel peaked at P170 per liter, which is $10.71 per gallon.
The average day’s wage in this country is less than $10. More than a day’s wage to buy one gallon of diesel.
Also, gasoline got as high as P120 per liter. Less than diesel but still super expensive.
Our Toyota runs on diesel, as do most delivery trucks. As shipping costs skyrocket, the price of almost everything else went up as well.
This is a national crisis. Please pray that this will turn many hearts to the Lord, and that the crisis will end soon.

My son Isaac and I visited Davao City April 20 – May 1. We were joyfully busy, visiting up to four sites per day (trying to live up to Acts 5:42).

Here’s a fairly new mothers’ Bible study.

We are always emphasizing home ministry. New saints are more likely to learn how to minister in homes than in church services. And people tend to get to know each other better in homes. And there are many people who would not consider going to a church building, but they would visit a neighbor’s home for a Bible conversation.

I was blessed to preach to our larger church in D.C. on the Sunday I was there. Then we had lunch in the building, and then a missions seminar from 1:00 to 7:00 pm. I can’t show the teacher because he often leads a team that reaches out to Muslim tribes on this island.

It was because of new missionary Isaac’s desire to minister to Muslims that we chose to visit D.C. during that timeframe. He and I were both blessed by our dear friend’s ministry.

The obligatory group photo after church on that Sunday, when folks were encouraged to wear tribal garb.

There ^ you can see two of the many kids who call me “Lolo (Grandpa) John” climbing onto my lap. But I especially love having spiritual grandkids… and great-grandkids. Here are some of them:

The three young men in front are being discipled by the three young men behind them. And those three are being discipled by Marc on the left, who is being discipled by me. See 1 Corinthians 4:15 and 2 Timothy 2:2.

Last but not least, a ministry to Indians that we joined.

Next time, I plan on updating you about the several Filipino missionaries whom we help sponsor, and their very difficult harvest fields.

Gina and I really appreciate the prayers, the encouragement, the help, and the donations we receive in behalf of FRN!
To those who give, thank you so much!
We could never repay you for your generosity to Filipinos Reaching Nations, but certainly “you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous.” (Luke 14:14)
Please forward this website to others who might be interested.
Please pray that God will send more laborers into his harvest field.
